Majed's Journey
From Beirut to Detroit
- Age 6
A keyboard in Lebanon
Majed's musical story began in Lebanon, where he started playing the keyboard at six years old. He was performing regularly before long, balancing school with music, and was mentored at school by Ghazi Al Shayah — an influence that remains a cherished memory since his passing.
- Age 11
The Conservatory
He began formal training at the Lebanese National Higher Conservatory of Music, studying the Oriental oud under Ghassan Zarzour, and later under Hussein Khalil — brother of the renowned singer Oumeima Khalil.
- Age 13
Trumpet and the scouts
He joined his school's music scouts program and took up the trumpet, widening his range beyond the strings.
- School & university
Playing for the village
Through his school and university years he performed with music clubs, entertained elders, contributed to village celebrations, and played alongside singers as part of their bands. Many of these events were non-profit — a reflection of his commitment to sharing the joy of music.
- 2017
First solo wedding, then America
One of his most cherished milestones was his first solo oud performance at a wedding at the Coral Beach Hotel & Resort Beirut. That same year he relocated to the United States.
- 2022
A second discipline
Alongside his artistry Majed works full time as a security engineer, having earned a Master's degree in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance from the University of Michigan.
- Today
Michigan and beyond
Known for blending traditional Arabic melodies with modern interpretations, he performs at weddings, cultural festivals, and corporate galas across Michigan, the United States, and Central America.
Solo, or with an ensemble
Majed performs primarily as a soloist — but if your event calls for more, he brings in talented instrumentalists he has played alongside for years.
